The European wokshop of the LIFE MIPP project, entitled ‘Monitoring of saproxylic beetles and other insects protected in the European Union’, will be held in Mantova (Italy) on 24th-26th May 2017 at the ‘Salone Mantegnesco’ of the University of Mantova Foundation. The scientific personnel of the project MIPP will present the results obtained during the 5-year project, on the monitoring of five saproxylic beetles: Osmoderma eremita, Lucanus cervus, Cerambyx cerdo, Rosalia alpina and Morimus asper/funereus. Additionally, leading experts from other countries will present their studies on monitoring protocols, saproxylic beetles, conservation and management of protected areas, biodiversity and forestry ecosystem. The LIFE+ Nature project "Monitoring of insects with public participation" (MIPP) has the main aim to develop and test standardized monitoring methods for the assessment of the conservation status of insect species listed in the annexes of the Habitats Directive. The species considered are: Osmoderma eremita s.l., Lucanus cervus, Cerambyx cerdo, Rosalia alpina, Morimus funereus.
The main purpose of this web portal is to collect and display faunistic data collected from citizens concerning the presence of the above species and of the species Lopinga achine, Parnassius apollo, Saga pedo, Zerynthia polyxena, which are also included in the annexes of the Habitats Directive
